Exercise is a very important part of injury management
and prevention. The clinic has a specially equipped gym which
uses a Scandinavian type of equipment, specifically designed for
people with injuries. It differs from other gym equipment in that
it can off-load joints as well as loading them. The Pilates Studio
includes the Pilates "reformer" which is a special machine
which works on balancing the muscle system. These sessions last
one hour and are one on one.
The Clinic's clients are very varied. Ruth has
just come back from a trip to Iceland treating the Irish Mens
Basketball team. She treats a lot of sports injuries including
tennis players, runners, golfers, rowers, dancers, rugby and football
players. The clinic caters for the needs of athletes, so the equipment
is the latest and most up to date with current research. Ruth
also sees a lot of musicians with repetitive strain injury (RSI),
or overuse injuries and she also sees a lot of chronic pain sufferers-
people who have had pain for years, have been to a lot of other
therapists, and need some relief.
Each patient will receive a variety of treatment,
depending on the diagnosis. See our Treatments page for specific
details of treatments.
